Hello! We continue with Nimmi’s brother in the twenty sixth video of ‘Spinning into a Career’

On the way, he meets his classmates who are cutting class like him. His friends follow the same pattern precisely. They roam here and there till it is time to go home. Once he is caught by the ticket collector, who knows his father. He informs his father about it. His father takes some time off to drop him to school, but he is inconsistent because of his shift duties. This gives Nimmi’s brother a chance to cut classes. The school authorities inform the father. In the course of time, the brother turns vindictive and troubles his sister, Nimmi by snatching a book from her hands and flinging it with such force that the pages get scattered all over the house. Aggrieved Nimmi cannot stand it. She cries and laughs hysterically. It is too much for her to get hold of herself. From the inner recesses of her soul comes the curse. “You will never be happy in your life. You will never be successful.” Nimmi gathers the scattered pages and gets it bound.

His liking for snakes is fearful. He brings a snake from the forest. He has it hung on his shoulders. He places the snake in the balcony of the apartment. At night the snake slowly crawls into the bedroom. Nimmi’s mother gets up and is frightened when she sees the snake. She calls out to her son and scolds and urges him to leave the snake in the forest.

In the meantime, his uncle from Bailey comes to Sharanai. His father relates his problems about educating his son. His uncle decides to take the boy to Bailey. At Bailey, he gets admitted in Banaji Public school. During his stay, he gets beaten up for indiscipline. He completes his sixth standard and scores brilliantly. He ranks first in the class. He wants to have some cookies from a shop. He does not have the money for it. He finds two pouches in the puja room. He takes coins from the pouch and buys eatables from a grocery shop from where his uncle buys groceries. The shopkeeper suspects him. He does not question the boy. He meets his uncle ant tells him that the little boy has purchased some eatables and the coins he has given him are silver coins. His uncle returns from the grocery shop and goes into the puja room and finds the empty pouch. He inquires the boy whether he has taken the silver coins. The boy relates him everything. His uncle informs his father.

The boy feels lonely after being estranged from his parents. He feels he is ill treated. He is made to do household work such as placing the shoes in order and keeping the school bags of his cousins in the proper place. He is given the responsibility of looking after the younger child of the uncle. He feels he is being used as a servant and does not seem to get affection from his uncle. During the holidays, when he is alone with his aunt, they go on bickering. He threatens her that he will kill her and run away. She is petrified. When his uncle comes from the office, he finally decides to send him to Sharanai to his parents’ place.

In Sharanai, he is enrolled in St. Vincent school. He gets into the company of bad friends again. He starts escaping from school to avoid math and the teacher who teaches it. His parents resent his dropping out from school. After spending a period of two to three years doing nothing, he finally decides to join a private secondary school certificate class. He takes the exam and clears it by scoring 59 percent. He has no intention of going to college. His father suggest that he take some technical course. Mechanical engineering courses are lucrative. He completes the diploma course in a year.
