Hello everybody! In the twenty second video of ‘Spinning into a Career’, we shall see what happens to Ruchi’s aunt.
Their aunt brings a photo of Lord Rama. Ruchi tries to say something but her aunt interrupts saying, ” You Satyavan Savithri, keep quiet.” Ruchi feels tense but she stays silent. Later Ruchi’s father leaves home and spends the night outside. He goes to Sathe, a local social worker, to file a police case against the woman. No one sleeps the entire night. After midnight, a female police comes and drags their aunt out of the house. While being dragged, she calls the landlord by his name. The landlord does not pay her any heed since the order has come from a high command. Ruchi’s father heaves a sigh of relief. The next day Ruchi goes to Nandlal Mitra’s house and discusses the house matter. The best thing is to enter into litigation. Her dad is compelled to run to court. The injunction order is given. The case regarding the house starts boiling. Their lawyer, Jadhav, reaches the court very late. The proceeding is adjourned. Her dad submits his ration card to the Sharanai court. Ruchi continues to have sleepless nights.
Ruchi does not have access to telephones. Her family does not own one. However, the telephone is an effective means of communication. The office has telephones which are mainly used by director, and his secretary and officers. Ruchi watches the TV series ‘The kid’. Her favorite programs are ‘Science Report’ and ‘The Ascent of Man’ It is about eighteenth century inventions by Benjamin Franklin and others from the Industrial revolution, French revolution and American revolution, views on social life and social revolution. Another episode of ‘The Ascent of Man’ deals with nuclear fission, atoms, electrons, protons, nucleus, neutron, electric charge and so forth. She watches Marathi and Hindi films on television. Before the independence day celebration of the nation, when Ruchi is at home, she sees her TV burning. It burns with blasts and fumes are emitted. The TV gets consumed by flames. She drinks milk with Ayurvedic medicines to clear her bowels. Her periods become irregular, The flow starts with excruciating stomach ache, leg ache and drowsiness.
Mr. Sonawane becomes Ruchi’s officer. He supports the female prime minister. He writes a letter to the female prime minister congratulating her for extending concessions to neo Buddhists, Scheduled castes and Scheduled tribes. Ruchi is given the job of dispatching confidential reports to the firms. She dislikes Mr. Balwant becoming her officer again. Ramachandran, a senior clerk from the Administration section reveals to Ruchi that her confidential report is excellent. Mr. Bala becomes Ruchi’s boss. The officer Jacob praises Ruchi for her work. Charles Paul, a purchase officer, is the head of the church. He is involved in charity and usually has bread for lunch. He is tall and hefty. When Ruchi expresses her wish to resign from the job, he says, ” Ruchi, don’t do it. You will regret it. It is a good government job with pension.”
Now we move on to chapter five – Evolution of a Career. Susan writes poems that are natural and lucid and have honest thoughts and feelings. Ruchi wonders how she writes that way. Ruchi tries her hand at writing a poem. The first poem she attempts to write is about the rain. Her head aches when she tries to compose the poem. It is not her cup of tea.
